Position Summary:

Project Managers at CALCO plays a critical role in helping implement project in workforce development education and health care initiatives.  They play a key role in managing projects that develop and deliver varied and innovative outreach, technical assistance, and training solutions for clients.  These solutions include change management strategies, technical assistance guides and materials, online learning platforms and web-based training, and in-person or virtual facilitation and training.  CALCO’s projects focus on a range of topics, such as academic support, online career pathways, enrollment services systems design, business engagement services and others that are critical to workforce development education and healthcare today.

 

This Project Manager’s position will be part of a team working on a national, large-scale project focused on youth education, career pathways and training projects.   The Project Manager  is a working manager with a wide-range of responsibilities that will include content development,  managing project activities; leading tasks and teams; resource allocations; working with multiple stakeholders; and managing technical assistance and training products and strategies.  At the core of the Project Manager’s work is a commitment to the mission of our clients’ work and fostering and maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring high-quality products and services are delivered on time and within budget.

 

Specific Responsibilities of Position:

  • Developing project plans, reports and other deliverables documents with a keen eye for quality assurance and contract specifications
  • Creating, organizing, updating, and monitoring timetables, project requirements, work plans, schedules, and progress reports to ensure that deadlines are met, and project deliverables and met efficiently
  • Maintaining projects and/or company data and records and ensuring that all documents are correct, processed in a timely manner and approved by relevant parties
  • Leading project meetings, facilitating communication and collaboration within the project team, across other departments, and with clients to maximize productivity
  • Assisting with special projects, such as process improvements and developing protocols.
  • Assisting with developing, reviewing, packaging and organizing business proposals for the company
  • Completing other necessary administrative tasks, such as data collection, conducting research, and reporting updates verbally and in written from to management
  • This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive. The duties can be modified, increased, decreased, or changed to meet the growing needs of the business.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience related to managing projects.  Experience in workforce development, education, or related fields is preferred but not required.
  • At least 3 years of experience specifically working as a project manager, including managing teams, managing project resources, developing, and managing project plans, and developing resource allocations.
  • Experience in one or all the following areas is a plus: Job Corps; career pathways; blended, distance, and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Previous consulting experience and/or managing federal contracts is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with MS Office products and knowledge of advanced features, functionality of the products
  • Experience with project management software
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to work with all levels of a diverse organization

  • Excellent communication. (oral and written) with demonstrated ability to express complex ideas clearly.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Strong technological capabilities, experience with writing business rules, framing the essentials for business logic, and developing mock-ups of web pages or software screens preferred.
  • Resourceful and capable in anticipating problems and effectively resolving challenges.
  • Willingness to develop professionally and desire to learn new things and apply the latest trends and technologies to your work.
  • Demonstrated customer relationship skills with ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional manner
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to effectively communicate through e-mail (computer proficiency with advanced features in MS Office)
  • Professional appearance and demeanor with ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Experience working both independently with little supervision, and with a team in a demanding in-person or remote environment
  • Must demonstrate an attitude of high motivation and an amazing work ethic

Office Locations and Hours:

Standard business hours apply with occasional weekend and evening hours required when deadlines must be met.  The primary work location will be at our client’s site in Washington, DC at the US Department of Labor. There may be occasions when it is necessary to travel to conferences or to the company’s main office.


Environmental Requirements:

Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions if required to travel to main office or to other business meetings.
